On the day:

VISUALISATION 5.35 – Ascot (9/1 each way) – Improved well to land his third race of the campaign in 16-runner handicap at the Curragh 27 days ago, again showing an excellent attitude. Should give another good account.

This is a handicap race, over 10 furlongs, a distance that is well catered for in the Black Type races at Royal Ascot but until now there has been nothing for handicappers.

It would be nice to think that the Golden Gates Handicap will be retained for Royal Ascot in future years, especially if the extended race format proves to be a success.

A tricky race and they go 6/1 the field ACQUITTED is most likely to go off the favourite and other leading contenders are the Godolphin pair GLOBAL STORM and YA HAYATI, John Gosden’s HYPOTHETICAL will also be popular as Frankie Dettori takes the ride. This is a mystery that may take a bit of unravelling

Keith's final choice

13:15 GLOBAL STORM 5/1 – Found himself out in front too early when winning at Newmarket last time just holding on. Will be fitter for the run and can carry the penalty to victory in this if starting his run just a little bit later.

How it fared

GLOBAL STORM 3RD – Was never in danger of getting an early lead, held up to the rear of midfield in dire conditions due to driving rain he ran on well through beaten horses to take a never nearer third.

Another Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori dual here to kick off Day Three’s Pick 6 but it’s Charlie Appleby’s Global Storm that gets the nod over those here with 28.8% of the selections. Frankie Dettori on Hypothetical next best on 21%, with Ryan Moore’s ride Acquitted on 16.8% of your selections.
