When is The Welsh Grand National 2020?

***Update***

The Coral Welsh Grand National will take place on Saturday 9th January after Boxing Day fixture was abandoned due to waterlogging

The Welsh Grand National takes place on Sunday 27th December and gets underway at 2.50pm at Chepstow Racecourse.

It's full name this year is the Coral Welsh Grand National Handicap Chase and was first run in 1895.

The Welsh Grand National is open to horses aged 4 years and older, and is a Grade 3 race, run over a distance of 3 miles and 6 and a half furlong.

Horses winning the Welsh Grand National can go on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup, or the Aintree Grand National, showing the caliber of the horses entered.

Welsh Grand National Tips

The key to the Welsh Grand National in recent years have been a good recent run, a low weight and aged between 6 and 8, this still leaves us with a few contenders and my final selection will be with you on Saturday. The shortlist is DOMINATEUR, SECRET REPRIEVE, CHRISTMAS IN APRIL, TWO AMIGOS and SPRINGFIELD FOX.
