When is The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes 2020?

The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is the fourth race of British Champions Day.  It is also known as the British Champions Mile

The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes takes place on Saturday 17th October 2020 with the race starting at 3.05pm at Ascot Racecourse

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is the fourth  Group 1 race of the day.  No surprises that teh race known as the British Champions Mile is run over the distance of 1 mile and is open to horses aged 3 years and older.

Established in 1955 as the Knights' Royal Stakes, it became the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.  It now forms part of the British Champions Day, where it is the mile category final for the British Champions Series.

This year's prize money is £650,000, which is considerably less then the usual £1 million prize.

The fastest time for the race (since 2011) is Minding, ridden by Ryan Moore and trained by Aidan O'Brien, who in 2016 completed the race in 1:38.53

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Tips

On paper this looks to be a very uncompetitive renewal of the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

The only danger to odds on joly, PALACE PIER, looks to be the French raider THE REVENANT.

How Did We Do?

Keith's message to VIP Members on raceday was:

PALACE PIER 4/6 – Unbeaten and getting better with every run. Possibly the best bet of the day but no value at 4/6, French raider THE REVENENT will keep hi honest and NAZEEF might just be the best of the rest.

THE REVENENT did more than keep PALACE PIER honest when he clung on to win by a head from 28/1 ROSEMAN. PALACE PIER finished third eased down by Frankie Dettori after losing a shoe, the jockey was concerned there was a more serious problem when the colt lost his action.

Keith will have a tip for all races shown on ITV which he will send to all VIP members on the morning of the races.  If you are not yet a VIP member, please join VIP for free.
