When is The QIPCO Champion Stakes 2020?

The QIPCO Champion Stakes is the penaltimate race of British Champions Day.

The QIPCO Champion Stakes takes place on Saturday 17th October 2020 with the race starting at 3.40pm at Ascot Racecourse

Run over a distance of 1 mile, 1 furlong and 212 yards, the QIPCO Champion Stakes is the last Group 1 race of the day and is open to horses aged 3 years and over.

Inaugurated in 1877, the race was ran at Newmarket until 2011.  It now forms part of the British Champions Day, where it is the middle distance category final for the British Champions Series.

This year's prize money is £750,000

The fastest time for the race (since 2011) is Cirrus des Aigles, ridden by Christophe Soumillon and trained by Jean-Claude Dupouy, who in 2011 completed the race in 2:02.52

QIPCO Champion Stakes Tips

There are 11 declared for QIPCO Champion Stakes 2020 but the ones on my radar are the well drawn pair LORD NORTH and last year's winner MAGICAL.

How Did We Do?

Keith's message to VIP Members on raceday was:

MAGICAL 2/1 – Has an impressive CV with 7 Group 1's to his name including this race last year under similar conditions.

MAGICAL had to settle for third, last year's runner up ADDEYBB found conditions to his liking and kept on galloping to the line after hitting the front 2 furlongs from home.

Keith will have a tip for all races shown on ITV which he will send to all VIP members on the morning of the races.  If you are not yet a VIP member, please join VIP for free.
