Apologies for the wait since the last edition of Keith's notebook, September was a nightmare for fiddly little jobs getting in the way but I have still been watching as much racing as possible and there are 14 new horses on the list.
You will notice that the main list is vastly reduced and this is simply because some the the Horses had been on the Notebook List too long. Ideally I like to see horses that have caught the eye back out fairly quickly, certainly within a few weeks at most, so with that in mind all horses with over 60 days on the list have been removed.
Notebook runners since last time.
September wasn't a vintage month for the Notebook, we had 21 runners and 8 winners for a level stakes profit of 1.56 points on the month. This would have been higher if I had made the cull to the list sooner as many of the losers were making their seasonal reappearance.
The best winner by far was MR LUPTON who won well at the Curragh and was bscked in from 9/1 to 11/2.
New Notebook Horses
These are the horses that caught my eye since last time.
Capla Spirit | ½ length 3rd at Wolverhampton, hung right closing stages, would have won if kept straight., |
Chocoya | Took command 1 furlong out at Kempton and quicken clear. Needs to prove he is as good on turf though. |
Copinet | Caught the eye when second on debut at Wolverhampton, made a lot of headway late on. |
Dutch Coed | Slowly away over the extended mile at Hamilton but made up a lot of ground to take second, kept on well. |
Embarked | 6 lengths ahead of the third home at Leicester on debut, only narrowly failed to catch the odds on winner. |
Faisal | Back on the list after a very easy hands and heels win under Holly Doyle. This horse is special |
Glowing For Gold | Wolverhampton, only just failed after making a strong challenge in the closing stages. |
Majestic Dawn | Left all previous form behind when 40/1 winner of the Cambridgeshire. Could be Group class if he continues to progress. |
Nickelsonthedime | Very promising hurdle debut at Warwick, ran on really well in the closing stages, just failed |
Ocean Wind | Followed up eye-catching maiden with a nice win over 2m 2f despite traffic problems. Series Cesarawich contender. |
Royal Marine | Stepped up to 1m 2f at Newbury and everything went wrong, slow start, short of room, hung left and yet still got to within a neck of the winner. |
The Triple Pillar | Third ½ length behind the winner on hurdle debut. Pressed the leaders right to the line. |
Third Kingdom | Looks to have a great future after winning easily at Newcastle. |
Thunder Moon | Has gone to the head of the 1000 Gns market after comfortable Curragh win despite meeting trouble in running. Major contender for the Dewhurst. |
