On the day:

FAR HOPE 5.00 – Ascot (18/1 each way) – Improving filly who made it 2-3 in 1m Brighton novice 17 days ago, forging clear. Makes handicap debut and shouldn't be underestimated.

Keith went for MAGNETIC CHARM on the day for a 10/1 each way selection for the Sandringham Stakes.

AFRICAN QUEEN is a pretty warm favourite at 9/4 but I’m not sure about her as she gets in off 8 stones. DECLARED INTEREST, SOFFIKA and WALIYAK may give her a run for the money.

Keith's final choice

SOFFIKA 16:40 Ascot 7/1 each way – The betting market would have you believe that this is a one-horse race and after her fine performance when just missing out in a Newbury novice last week AFRICAN QUEEN looks a handicap snip off a mark 16lb lower than her future rating. But this is not a one-horse race and 2/1 in a valuable competitive handicap is hardly value. I am taking her on with SOFFIKA who looked smart as a juvenile and has the scope to be even better at three.

How it fared

SOFFIKA 7th – Soffika held up by Ryan Moore never got into the race finished 7th / 14

Our Verdict:

Thanks Be, who went off at 33/1, denies Magnetic Charm of the honours for the Sandringham Stakes by a neck! Hotsy Totsy came from the rear of the pack, but was left too much to do, and took 3rd place. Thanks Be was ridden by Hayley Turner who was the first female winning jockey at Royal Ascot since Gay Kellaway in 1987.
