PODCAST

As you have landed on this page I assume you have just been listening to me on the Betting Guy podcast.

As promised here are my thoughts and selections for Champions Day at Ascot, this is usually only available to members of the FRT VIP CLUB

ITV RACING

All six races from Quipco Champions Day at Ascot are on ITV today.

THE TIN MAN 13:35 Ascot 12/1 each way – Heavy going on the straight course will suit THE TIN MAN Won this race in 2016 and is running as well as ever. Unlucky at Haydock last time when he stumbled at the start and still got to within ½ length of HELLO YOUMZAIN can reverse the placings with that one today.

STRADIVARIUS 14:10 Ascot 8/13 – With the Ascot round course waterlogged this is being run on what they are calling the inner flat course but they are fooling nobody it is the Hurdle course they are running on and as it hasn’t been watered all summer it is running on just the soft side of good. STADIVARIUS is impossible to oppose today but KEW GARDENS is interesting stepped up to 2 miles for the first time. One that may do well at a price is CAPRI who has had a nightmare year but Aidan O’Brien has been patient with him and conditions should be ideal.

STAR CATCHER 14:45 Ascot 7/4 – Four wins from five this season and looking for her 3rd Group 1 on the bounce. Expected to make all under Frankie.

CENTURY DREAM 15:20 Ascot 16/1 each way – A mile through the mud on the stright course is going to be hard work but CENTURY DREAM who was a close 3rd in this last year behind, Roaring Lion, will handle conditions and if able to get a soft lead may take some pegging back. His half brother KING OF CHANGE should be thereabouts too.

MAGICAL 16:00 Ascot 6/4 – Draw a line through his run in the Arc and MAGICAL is the clear pick on this seasons form. 1m 2f is his optium trip and he should take up the running and bound clear around 2 furlongs out.

ARMEDEO MODIGLIANI 16:40 Ascot 7/2 – Very lightly raced. Won his maiden on Soft then had 20 months off but clearly has potential otherwise connections would have retired him as they are definitely not short of horses at Ballydoyle. Has run in a trio of listed races this term fininish 3rd, 4th, 4th. Makes handicap debut on what looks a lenient mark. Could be anything.
