Wow what a faboulous week we had with the Ebor Festival at York. There was some amazing racing and it was great to see the queen of the turf ENABLE win her last British race. Even though I went against STRADIVARIUS again with the ultra tough DEE EX BEE is was great to see Frankie and STRAD lift that £1,000,000 bonus for the second year running.
The week though was tinged with sadness ROARING LION lost his battle with colic and the Champion Hurdle winner ESPOIR D’ALLEN unfortunately had to be destroyed after suffering an injury at work the week before.
Here are the Notebook horses which have caught my eye recently.
Horses will be removed from the list once they run.
So long as you are subscribed to one of our lists you will be informed when the “Keith’s Notebook Horses” next run and my opinion of their chances.
Wednesday 21st August
ELARQUAM – Third in the Juddmont International Stakes at York. Tracked the leaders before hitting a flat spot two furlongs out. Battled back gamely to take third but I can’t help feeling that battle would have been for the win if he had been make more ue of earlier in the race.
Thursday 22nd August
MUMS TIPPLE – 11 lengths winner of a valuable sales rce at York. Conections are sure to go for black type next time and it would be no surprise if he gains Group 1 glory before too long.
Friday 23rd August
CARADOC – Third at York kept on well after meeting plenty of trouble in running.
Saturday 24th August
GRIMSDYKE – Back on the list after being undone by the draw for the second race running. Sixth of 15 at Redcar drawn right on the outside in stall 15 and the first five home were in single figure stalls.
