When is the Cheltenham Festival 2021?

The Cheltenham Festival for 2021 starts on Tuesday March 16th with Champion Day and culminates with the world renowned, Cheltenham Gold Cup on the final day – Friday 19th March.

The Festival is the zenith of the National Hunt season that provides an unrivaled buzz as 250,000 people descend onto the beautiful Cotswold Hills over four days of scintillating action in March, and millions more watch on TV.

Champions are decided, heroes are made, and reputations are left in ruins as the finest horses, jockeys, and trainers battle it out for the highest racing honours and nearly £4m of prize money. Who will be the leading trainer and the leading jockey?

If you’ve been before you’ll know what a great occasion it is and if you’ve not, well we’re sure you’ll want to experience it!

This is our THIRTEENTH Cheltenham Festival…

We’re no strangers to the “greatest show on turf”, having founded Free Racing Tips in the summer of 2008, we first rocked up to the 2009 Festival, and witnessed the legendary Kauto Star become the first horse in history to regain his Gold Cup crown, beating his stablemate (and 2008 gold cup winner) Denman by thirteen lengths. It would also turn out to be the first of many gold cup winners that we’d tip to our members.

But of course, it’s not just about the big race – there’s 28 races over the four days, starting with the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on Day One, and ending with the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on Day Four.

Who is FRT’s Cheltenham Tipster?

Keith Bond is our resident pro tipster here at FRT Towers. Keith lives and breathes horse racing, having begun his love of horse racing over 40 years ago with a part time job at Catterick Racecourse, as one of three fourteen year-olds looking after two jumps and a hurdle.

Over the years, Keith has been a regular at the northern tracks attending countless race meetings and building up a network of contacts, and a portfolio of systems and strategies. 

He was one of the co-founders of Free Racing Tips all the way back in 2008, and his free tips are now backed by more than seventy thousand FRT members every single day.

However, these previews are often written well in advance of race day – and we know a LOT more information on the morning of the races – what the going is; all the runners and riders have been declared, and we know who’s in form – and who’s not!

Keith’s Inner Circle members will get priority access to the tips the night before racing

On Monday March 9th, Keith will be hosting a FREE Cheltenham 2021 preview evening for all members, where he’ll walk you through the likely runners and riders for all the major races – showcasing the main contenders, and sharing his tips with you for the big races.

You’ll also get Keith’s thoughts on some festival-wide bets, including top jockey, and top trainer.

This WON’T be one of those Cheltenham Preview Evenings where you pay £20 to hear one of the stablehands at a trainer’s yard say cliched, non-committal tripe like “oh, he’s got every chance if he runs the race we know he’s capable of” or “he can win this if the conditions are right”. 

You’ll hear real thoughts and opinions from a professional horse racing tipster. 

How did we do last year?

We're always open and honest about our results, win or lose, and 2020 was definitely a strange Cheltenham for us… (although, you can bet this year will be a lot stranger!)

We enjoyed at least one winner each day, and at the end of the 28 races were just 2.64 points down to 1pt win or 0.5pt each way as advised – one elusive winner from showing a profit.

Now, a big part of Keith's job as a professional horse racing tipster at the Cheltenham Festival is about spotting value. It’s not always about picking who’s going to win.

Of course, sometimes there are bankers who shouldn't be avoided, like last year's ENVOI ALLEN who we tipped at 8/11.

And then there's those much more valuable winners like SIRE DU BERLAIS, who we tipped at 10/1 in the Pertemps Final…

Often when Keith starts plotting his tactics for the festival, there're some very tempting ante-post prices available on the outsiders. But the trouble with ante-post tips is that many of them end up as non-runners.

So while we'll still have our ante-post tips for every race of the festival right up until the final declarations have been made)…

Just know that these are made weeks in advance of the race, and Keith does update his tips and sends them to all his VIP and Inner Circle members on the morning of the festival.
