One of the feature races from Haydock tomorrow is the Peter March Chase, which is a Grade 2 Handicap held over a distance of three miles. There are 13 runners set to go to post here and it looks to be a competitive renewal.
Reve De Sivola heads the market here and he is interesting now going back over fences. The horse does seem to be better over hurdles, but is off an attractive mark over the larger obstacles and was a good second in Grade One company last time out.
James Reveley takes the ride on this eleven-year-old and you’d expect a decent run from the gelding. This is competitive though and 4/1 could be a little short, as we don’t quite know the ability of this horse over fences right now.
You then have Virak at 5/1, who has been second on each of his last two races, but has performed well on both of those occasions and gets the valuable seven-pound claimer Harry Cobden on board here.
He is 15 pounds higher than his previous winning mark, but seems to be improving all the time and will be a popular runner here.
Fingal Bay is another 5/1 shot and goes for the Phillip Hobbs team.
This horse has run into Smad Place two times this season and his fourth in the Hennessey Gold Cup looks to be a cracking bit of form.
He was just behind Virak last time out, but ran well and does meet on better terms here, so could reverse the form.
It has been a little while since this horse has been in the winners’ enclosure, but he is a top class horse and might be quite well handicapped.
It’s then 7/1 about Cloudy Too, who was third here at Haydock last time out on heavy ground and does seem to handle the ground, which could be key.
Danny Cook rides for Sue Smith and any market move on this horse would be interesting.
Katenko has been pulled up on his last two starts, but is a 10/1 shot for Venetia Williams and the yard is in good form right now. He needs to find some form, but could relish these conditions and was fourth in the race last season.
It’s then 12/1 about Seventh Sky, with Algernon Pazham and Splash Of Ginge both available at 16/1. It’s 18/1 about the rest of the field.
For us, a bet on Fingal Bay looks to be the way to go in this competitive encounter. Grab 4x the odds with Paddy Power for this race by clicking on the picture above!
