Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes comes from York on Friday afternoon and should be another cracking race. This is a Group 2 held over a two miles and some top quality stayers will head to post.
Dartmouth is the 10/3 favourite at the moment and this horse is trying this distance for the first time. He looks as though he’ll enjoy the extra trip and was a good winner here over a mile and six furlongs earlier in the season.
The horse disappointed somewhat at Royal Ascot last time out, but a mile and a half might be a little bit on the sharp side for him these days.
Sir Michael Stoute has had a good week and with Ryan Moore on board, this horse is sure to be popular in the market.
Thomas Hobson is very interesting for Willie Mullins and Jim Crowley.
This seven-year-old has plenty of class and seems to be a horse with more to offer on the flat.
He bolted up in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier in the season and then wasn’t beaten far when trying to do the double in the Queen Alexandra Stakes just a few days later.
Mullins has given this horse a bit of a break since then and there’s every reason to believe there is more to come from this gelding. 7/2 is the price about him.
Dal Harraild is a 4/1 shot for William Haggas and does like it here at York.
He is another stepping up in trip and the four-year-old did run well here when winning back in May. More is needed to land this, but this has been a horse that Haggas has always liked and there is plenty of market support for him.
Sir Mark Prescott is often a man to follow in these staying races and he has St Michel in this, who is a 7/1 shot.
This four-year-old won plenty of races last season and has been second on two occasions so far this campaign. His last run was in America and he went very close to landing a big prize on that day.
Two miles is an ideal trip for this horse and he is very interesting, especially if there is more market support.
Sheikzayedroad hasn’t quite looked the same horse this season for whatever reason and is an 8/1 shot here.
He is very good on his day and won on British Champions Day last season. He does need to show more than he has in recent runs to land this, though.
It’s then 10/1 for Higher Power and 16/1 about Montaly.
Price Of Arran and High Jinx are both 25/1 shots.
