Friday 9th October, 3.10pm, Newmarket
There’s a cracking card coming from Newmarket tomorrow and the feature race is the Group 1 Dubai Fillies Mile.
This race is held over one mile and is open to two-year-old fillies. There are ten runners set to go to post and the favourite is Minding for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore.
She is a 2/1 shot and was impressive when beating Ballydoyle at the Curragh last time out. Ballydoyle has since gone onto win well on Arc Day at Longchamp, so it looks to be rock solid form and the step up to a mile shouldn’t be a problem here.
O’Brien’s charge won on Yielding ground last time out too, so won’t mind the Good to Soft surface in this encounter.
With Moore on board, this two-year-old could be tough to beat and 15/8 might even be a decent price.
As you’d expect though, there are some top quality individuals set to take the favourite on and perhaps the most interesting of them is Nathra for the dream team of John Gosden and Frankie Dettori.
This horse was a winner on debut at Salisbury and then bolted up at Newbury on her second start in the style of a filly with plenty of class.
Both of those runs have been on soft ground, so things will be a little bit quicker here, but she’s sure to enjoy the step up to a mile and looks to be decent value.
Gosden has had a knack for taking these big races and his filly will be the subject of some market support you’d expect.
The Aidan O’Brien “second string” is next in the betting as Coolmoore can be backed at 6/1.
This was odds-on to win her first two races and couldn’t do the business, but won at the Curragh last time out and you’d expect that she’s a horse who will continue to improve.
Joseph O’Brien knows the filly well and she is worth a look in the market.
You then have Promising Run at 13/2 and that could be a very nice price about Saeed Bin Suroor’s charge. She won here at Newmarket in impressive fashion last time out and is the one to beat on ratings.
With three runs and two wins to her name, the Godolphin horse is very talented and looks a good bet.
You then have Beautiful Morning at 16/1, with Dawn Of Hope and Hawksmoor at 20/1. It’s 25/1 and over for the rest of the field.
This looks a tricky race as there’s a bit of guesswork as to how good a few of these are. Minding is the one to beat, but we’ll take a chance on PROMOSING RUN at a nice price.
