The feature race coming from Kempton Park tomorrow afternoon is the William Hill Lanzarote Hurdle. This is a Listed race held over a distance of two miles and five furlongs.
It’ll be testing ground, but should be a cracking contest.
Bivouac is the 4/1 favourite in the betting right now and this horse was a good winner at Chepstow last time out.
He did look to be well handicapped when winning that encounter and won nicely.
There’s every chance that Nicky Henderson’s charge is improving all the time and this step up in trip does look as though it will suit. Noel Fehily is on board the course winner and he should go close.
Paul Nicholls’ yard seems to have turned a corner recently and had a treble at Doncaster on Friday, so it is likely his Ibis Du Rheu will be well backed.
Right now, the horse is at 4/1 and was second at Newbury in November last time out.
That was the first run of the season for this horse, who has only been seen here in the UK on three occasions so far.
Again, improvement is expected and any market confidence will be interesting.
Western Warrior is at 9/2 and likely to run a big race in the hands of Will Kennedy here.
This horse will relish conditions after winning by a huge 30 lengths at Lingfield last time out. Although this is a step up in quality for the seven-year-old, he might still be quite well handicapped and does have a low weight to carry.
Yala Enki had the horse’s measure at Exeter back in November though and Venetia William’s charge is available to back at 5/1 here.
He was stepped up in trip last time out, but didn’t seem to get home and the drop back in distance will suit. Also, in these competitive handicaps, a good claiming jockey can make all of the difference and Charlie Deutsch is able to take five pounds off.
Brother Tedd is then at 9/1 for Phillip Hobbs and Richard Johnson. This horse enjoys it here at Kempton and is still pretty progressive. Back up in trip from Ascot, he could go close here.
It’s then 16/1 about the likes of Gevrey Chambertin, Un Ace and Dell Arca. It’s 20/1 about Little Boy Boru and 33/1 for Deep Trouble.
