The feature race coming from Cheltenham tomorrow is the Galliardhomes.com Cleeve Hurdle, which is a Grade 2 held over a distance of three miles.
This is, as you’d expect, a regocnised trial for the World Hurdle at the Festival and the horse leading the way in that market and indeed in this race is Thistlecrack.
Colin Tizzard’s runner is a 4/5 shot to land the spoils tomorrow and with what he has shown so far this season, you’d expect this eight-year-old to take all of the beating.
The horse was second at the Punchestown behind the excellent Killultagh Vic back in April and has continued to improve this season with wins in both the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury and the Grade One Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot.
He made some good horses look ordinary in that race at Ascot too and this horse looks a serious World Hurdle contender.
He does need to show that he can do it at Cheltenham as he wasn’t too good here on this card last year, but is simply a better horse now and should go well.
It won’t be easy for Thistlecrack though as he is up against Camping Ground, who is a 5/2 shot and was really impressive when winning here over two and a half miles on New Years Day.
The six-year-old had the likes of Top Notch, Cole Harden and Whisper well behind on that day and it does look to be good form.
The three mile trip is a little bit of a question mark for this horse and if he does go well, then the World Hurdle will be the target for the gelding.
With the way he powered by the hill last time you’d think Camping Ground should be fine over this trip and some could see him as value.
Ptit Zig is then a 7/1 shot for Paul Nicholls and Sam Twiston-Davies. This horse has been really frustrating over fences this year with two falls in his last two runs and he’s now being aimed over hurdles.
At 7/1, this horse could be value but you’re only getting two places on EW betting and it might be tough for Ptit Zig to get the better of the front two in the market.
The Young Master, Knockara Beau, Guitar Pete and The Romford Pele complete the line up.
In this one, we think that THISTLECRACK will take all the beating and could be on to put in multiples and accumulators.
